Germany will build the world's largest information technology security research center

The helmholtz federation (helmholtz), a German research institute, announced Wednesday that it plans to build the world's largest information technology security research center in the western German city of saarbrucken to address the growing risk of cybercrime.

The new center is scheduled to have about 800 experts from around the world working on Internet security research by 2026, with an annual research budget of 50 million euros.

Digital information is playing an increasingly important role in many fields," helmholtz federation President otimar westerler said on the same day.
